Drive the next generation – Join #GEN1200
Current mass-market electric vehicles (EVs) commonly operate at a voltage level of 400V. There is however a clear trend to increase the voltage level towards 800V and beyond and GEN1200 will lead the way towards highly-integrated 1200V powertrains. 1200V technology promises several key benefits on the road to broad user adoption, including faster charging, lower thermal loads, higher power density and hence a noteworthy increase in practical range over time.
GEN1200 will in particular develop a innovative 1700V SiC power electronics systems with multiple use of components, aiming at improved cost effectiveness whereas at the same time enabling backwards compatibility with lower voltage DC charging stations. The electric drive will be integrated in a 1200V e-axle with profound electrical, thermal and mechanical integration of its subsystems. The project results will furthermore lead to 350 kW charging of novel 10C battery modules with integrated electronics and a modular wireless battery management system for 1200V battery packs.
The GEN1200 innovations will be demonstrated on a representative C-segment vehicle platform, but extrapolation towards other segments will be considered.
