Transitioning Road Mobility: Actions to Safeguard Europe’s Competitive Edge

The European Automotive Research Partners Association (EARPA) proudly hosted its highly anticipated event, the Future Road Mobility Forum 2025 (FORM Forum) which took place from 30 September – 1 October in Brussels. 

Bringing together over 260 participants, this year’s FORM Forum gathered some of the most influential minds in automotive research, alongside key stakeholders from industry, academia, and European institutions, to explore how Europe can maintain its global leadership in sustainable and innovative road mobility. 

Collaboration and vision at the heart of EARPA’s mission 

The event opened with exclusive sessions for EARPA Members, featuring internal workshops dedicated to upcoming position papers, collaborative research opportunities, and future calls for European R&I programmes. 

The two-day programme also featured a conference, exhibition, and networking reception, providing a vibrant platform for dialogue, innovation, and partnership-building across Europe’s automotive ecosystem.

At the Networking Reception, EARPA President, Michele De Gennaro delivered an inspiring welcoming speech which emphasised the excellence of EARPA’s automotive research community. He stated that Transitioning Road Mobility: Actions to Safeguard Europe’s Competitive Edge”, is not only about policy, but about action. It is about connecting research with industry, ambition with funding, and ideas with implementation. 

He also added that at EARPA We remain committed to ensuring that Europe leads the transition to sustainable, innovative, and competitive mobility. And we need every bit of your effort and talent to do so. Only staying together, we can turn this vision into reality. 

These words set the tone for an event that showcased 35 speakers, 12 exhibitors, and 15 research posters, all contributing to the future of road mobility. 

 

Highlights from the FORM Forum 2025 Conference & Exhibition
The conference programme featured keynote speeches from leading figures representing the European institutions and other mobility stakeholders, who provided strategic insights into Europe’s evolving mobility landscape.

Another major highlight was the Young Researcher Elevator Pitch session, where emerging talents presented their innovative ideas to the audience. Sacha Baclet, from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, was awarded Best Pitch for his research on improving urban mobility insights through low-cost microphone sensors. 

Moreover, the dynamic panel discussion presented diverse perspectives and real-world examples from leading voices across Europe’s mobility ecosystem. The session focused on innovations which are essential to shape the future of road mobility. Technical presentations rounded off the programme, exploring the latest advancements in automotive research and addressing the key challenges that Europe must face collectively to remain competitive.
